Melt Pricing

Melt Pricing Calculator

Melt value is the worth of the pure gold inside a piece. It equals weight × purity × gold price.

Premium is the amount a price sits above melt value. A 35% premium means the price is 1.35 times the melt value.

Worked example

A piece weighs 10 grams. It is 18K gold. 18K gold is 75% pure.

The 24K gold price is $100 per gram.

Melt value per gram: $100 × 75% = $75.00.

Total melt value: $75.00 × 10 grams = $750.00.

With a 35% premium: $750.00 × 1.35 = $1,012.50. That is your price.
